Travel reports (6) from Fabian Röken, August 2004 fabian @ roeken.de Hello Erwin, Once again many thanks for your holiday tip and your great support during our holiday in Romania. My wife and I really enjoyed our stay and would love to come and visit you again.
What impressed us most was the hospitality and the charming manner of the people there. Aronel and Cornelia gave us such a friendly welcome that it was not long before we felt like part of the family. During the course of our 12-day stay, we were invited to a big family celebration, were able to attend a christening, and almost every other evening we barbecued (and sang) with Aronel and Cornelia in the glow of the campfire. It has never happened to us before that after 12 days holiday it was so difficult to take our leave of our hosts. The countryside around Arieseni is still quite unspoiled and beautiful. We spent a lot of time walking and could easily have done much more.
In the evenings Cornelia always fed us with original Romanian dishes and in more than adequate quantities too. The food was very tasty and after it we were usually pretty full, so sitting in front of the campfire was just right. The clocks in Arieseni tick more slowly - in the positive sense of the word. The people there have much more time for each other and with each other. In those twelve days, we never actually felt any stress.
Greetings from Reutlingen,, Fabian and Claudia (Images from Fabian Röken)
