The Springs of the Aries: In the Heart of Nature In the heart of the Apuseni Mountains, the Aries Valley is a paradise for nature lovers. Gorges, caves and the magnificent shapes of the thickly forested mountains combine with the marks of human labour to give the region its beauty. The possibilities for hiking are endless. These mountains are the cradle of an old Romanian way of life, that of the highland people known as Mots, who make their living by raising animals and from forestry. Scattered over the mountain sides, thousands of isolated farmsteads give a special character to this landscape which is unique in Romania. You will find plenty of reasons to stop in our valley, and there are around 50 houses here where you can experience the natural hospitality of highland people. The Mountain House At the information Center in Albac, and at the Information Points of Arieseni, Garda, Ghetar, Horea and Scarisoara, friendly and enthusiastic staff with foreign language skills will welcome you and do all they can to help you to discover the Aries Valley and the Apuseni Mountains. The Information Center and the network are the creations of local associations which make up the "Izvoarele Ariesului" organization and are members of "Operation Villages Roumains (OVR) - Tourist Network".
